India Post GDS 2nd Merit List 2023: Check Result and Cut Off Marks

Post Office GDS Result Update: Second Merit List Coming Soon with Lower Cut-Off

There’s significant news regarding the Post Office GDS results. An important update reveals that a large percentage of candidates from the initial result have been rejected, leading to the preparation of a second merit list.

High Rejection Rate in Initial Post Office GDS Result

In a major development concerning the Post Office GDS recruitment, it has been confirmed that approximately 60% of the candidates initially selected in the first result have been rejected. This means only about 40% of candidates have been successfully selected so far.

Why So Many Candidates Were Rejected

The primary reason for the mass rejections is the submission of fraudulent documents. Many candidates were found to have uploaded false mark sheets, including manipulated 10th-grade documents, with some even claiming 100% marks. These fake entries led to their immediate disqualification. Additionally, a number of selected candidates did not appear for the document verification process.

What to Expect from the Second Merit List

A second merit list is currently being prepared due to the high number of rejections. This upcoming list is anticipated to have a significantly lower cut-off score compared to the first list, which saw cut-offs typically above 90%. Candidates with 10th-grade marks as low as 50% might have a chance of selection. It’s worth noting that a previous GDS recruitment drive in 2022 for over 38,000 vacancies saw results issued six times due to similar issues of fraudulent entries and absent candidates. This time, the intention is for the upcoming result to be the final one, though a third list could be released if further discrepancies are discovered.

Significant Number of Vacancies Remain

Despite the initial selections, a substantial number of vacancies still exist. With such a high rejection rate, it is estimated that around 35,000 positions remain unfilled. This extensive number of open slots is a major factor driving the release of a second result to fill these positions.

Preparing for Document Verification

Candidates awaiting the second merit list should ensure all their documents are legitimate and readily available. The process of removing fraudulent entries is ongoing, and only candidates with accurate documents will be selected and confirmed during the document verification stage. Incorrect or fake documents will lead to rejection, even if selected in the merit list.
